High Tea Happy Hour Photos
When I heard there would be no beer served at the Royal Wedding...
I cancelled my flight and called up William and Kate to tell them I couldn't make it, "something all of a sudden came up..."
I'm not sure they bought my excuse? So I hosted my own party instead.
A High Tea Happy Hour...with beer, wine, hot tea, iced tea and pomegranate martinis.
I wanted to do all traditional tea sandwiches, but when I started running short on prep time...two of the sandwiches on the initial menu found here got nixed and two others were redefined as "canapes."
So tea sandwiches and canapes...actually quite appropriate for a HIGH TEA - HAPPY HOUR...
The tea pot below is from England and was my great grandmother's...the glasses I found at Goodwill for $9.99 ~ I thought they were so cool and well worth the price!
This was the set up before my guests arrived (saran wrap covering the plates...)
Everyone still hung out in the kitchen. (My next house needs two kitchens...one where I cook...a real working kitchen....and one that is beautiful, huge and open to the entire house so people spread out!)
A girl can dream...
There were grilled shrimp that went with this Caesar Salad (below) that I forgot to put out until an hour into the party. I knew something was missing!
So anyway...Kate's dress was stunning...only overshadowed by her beautiful face and smile. William looked dapper in his Irish Guard red.
I hope they're not upset I cancelled last minute. Kate...if you're reading, "call me."

Love all of this bus especially the glasses from good will. Kate was furious when i backed out last minute too but my calandar just books up in the Spring! Btw, did any people come to your high tea? ;)
Those glasses are super awesome, $10???? I am so so So jealous! No one ever donates cool stuff like that here LOL :) The spread looks amazing, as always! The food all looks delicious. Hope the Royals weren't too sad that you couldn't make it, but seriously, no beer at the wedding? I thought it was a classy event LOL :)
Thanks guys :) I LOVE the glasses too! I was so excited. Our Goodwill is good here. There are lots of old homes around and I guess they are full of cool stuff people donate!
And Gabrielle - YES people did come to the party but I was too busy being a hostess that I didn't take "LIVE" photos. One of these days my blog will include pictures of humans older than 4! :) Starting with YOU making SUSHI!
This is the kind of wedding watching party I can get on board with...good call on the beer and wine AND pom martinis!
Awesome spread, and like everyone else, LOVE those glasses. Great find!
Love the sandwiches and the food presentation, everything looks just so delicious!
You guy's had a great time too;-)
This looks delicious!
No beer? Really? That must have made for a pretty tame wedding...and in my opinion the best weddings are the one where some weird uncle gets crazy drunk and dance the macarena in the middle of dinner.
Looks like such a fun high tea/happy hour!
wow great spread and beautiful home :-)
What a lovely table you have set! Beautiful presentation and fit for a king!
Lovely party. I hope you didn't spend an arm and a leg on a hat...
Wow.. everything looks incredible. I want to say I love the glasses, but then I'd sound like everyone else that commented... so I'm just gonna say: Yea, I didn't want to go to the wedding either... no beer? Blasphemy!!!!
Sorry I couldn't make it to your high tea...I got caught up at the wedding with Charles and all. You know how it is...couldn't just eat and run. Jokes aside, I thought Kate and William were great, she really is beautiful. And so was your layout, by the way.
What a beautiful Tea Party, everything looks delicious! And I love the glasses, what a find...
P.S. I will have 3 of those
pomegranate martinis :)
Really lovely party Jen :)
