Last years Turkey before being deep fried! |
In the spirit of Turkey Day I thought I'd share with you a short Thanksgiving poem my sister wrote when she was little....I have always loved it to this day!
There once was a turkey named Guy,
Whose biggest fear was to die.
Thanksgiving came a comin'
So Guy went a runnin'
And on Thanksgiving we only had pie.
Enjoy the holiday! Be back soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope your turkey isn't named Guy this year :) The poem is adorable!
LOL. By the way---the pic of your turkey ready for frying last year got me to thinkin'...
Some years back, people started deep frying turkeys on Thanksgiving. I was appalled. I thought it was a perfectly good waste of good turkey meat. I reasoned that it MUST be bad for you, and it HAD to be greasy. I figured it was a fad and would go the way of the leisure suit in good time.
Then, of course, someone brought a fried bird to our Thanksgiving office party and I tried it. DAMN! I was wrong about everything, as usual. It was not greasy. It was perfectly cooked. The flavor was incredible.
Have a great week!
Never made a deep-fried turkey....too skeered to try!
LOVE the poem...LOL
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
LOL cute! Happy Thanksgiving!
Ha ha ha!! Super cute. Have a great Thanksgiving and we'll look forward to hearing from you next week!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I got all ambitious and decided to make vichyssoise instead of mashed potatoes. Was up until 1am pressing my potatoes through a wire sieve. I fear i do not have enough leeks and that I have started the process too early.....still have 6 more sides to make and a bird in the basement waiting for brining.....I am strangely excited. Husband is skeptical, children are already requesting chicken nuggets. Why must I always reinvent Thanksgiving???
Cute poem! Have a great time with your guests. Happy Thanksgiving!
ha, that is a pretty funny poem - happy thanksgiving!
